WLC Women of Distinction Awards due Monday, Sept. 21

Each year five women from the Georgia Tech community are honored as “Women of Distinction” at the annual Women’s Leadership Conference at Georgia Tech. Women are nominated in the following categories: alumni, faculty, staff, undergraduate student and graduate student.


Please nominate a woman from your area! This is a great way to foster and recognize women’s leadership in your college or department. In addition, the student recipients will also receive a $1,000 scholarship.

The 2008 Women of Distinction included:
Outstanding Faculty Member: Ayanna Howard, Ph.D.

Outstanding Staff Member: Amelia Gambino

Outstanding Alumna: Patrise Perkins-Hooker

Outstanding Graduate Student: Joanna Hass

Outstanding Undergraduate Student: Andrea Trillo

The conference will be held October 23-24 at the Georgia Tech Student Center. Registration begins September 18.

Georgia Tech Women of Distinction Award Nominations

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2008 Women of Distinction Awards. The nomination form is located here. All nominations are due by 11:59 PM, October 4. If you have any questions about the awards, please contact our Awards Chair, Kristina Self. Please see the awards page for more information.

The Women of Distinction Awards are given to outstanding Georgia Tech women in conjunction with the annual Georgia Tech Women's Leadership Conference and honors women with exemplary leadership abilities.

Nominees are sought for:

Graduate Women
Faculty
Staff Member
Alumna


This year's conference will be held November 7-8, 2008.

Be sure and mark November 19, 2008 on your calendar if you plan to attend the upcoming Georgia Tech Training Awards event. This event is for anyone who is completing a Georgia Tech training certificate.

If you have (or will be completing a training certificate program) before November 19, more specific information will be sent to you shortly.

Joseph M. Pettit Alumni Distinguished Service and Honorary Alumnus

The Alumni Association is seeking nominations for the Joseph M. Pettit Alumni Distinguished Service and Honorary Alumnus Awards, and would like you to give consideration to the process. The award recipients are honored at the Alumni Association’s annual Gold & White Honors.

Nominations for the Distinguished Service Award are based on an individual’s outstanding support of the Institute and the Alumni Association throughout a lifetime. These nominees have provided strong leadership in their chosen profession and local community. The most recent recipients of this award are Gary Jones, A.J. Land, Roe Stamps and Michael Tennenbaum.

Honorary Alumnus Award nominations are based on an individual’s service to the Institute in an outstanding manner. The most recent recipients of this award are Jeanne Ferst, Joanne LeCraw, Dot Poole, Marilyn Somers and Carolyn Stewart.

If you know of someone who you believe is eligible and deserving of either of these honors, please send his/her name with a brief description of his/her qualifications for the award to Jolie Rosenberg (jolie.rosenberg@alumni.gatech.edu or fax 404.385.3023).

Nominations for the aforementioned awards must be received by August 22.

Nominations for two additional awards are also being accepted: Dean Griffin Community Service and Outstanding Young Alumnus Awards. The nomination form for these two awards can be found on line at gtalumni.org/awards. The deadline for these two awards is October 24.
