Emerging Leader Certificate Program

The Professional Development Plus Certificate program has undergone improvements to better reflect its purpose and mission. It will now be known as the Emerging Leaders Certificate Program. While there are plans to make several small but significant program adjustments for the 2009 training calendar, course requirements will remain the same through the remainder of the 2008 calendar year.

(E) - Improve Organizational Effectiveness with Mind Mapping
(E) - Increasing Your Value As An Experienced Manager
(E) - Leading With Emotional Intelligence
(E) - Recognizing and Handling Burnout Powerful Communication Skills for Women

Also, a name change can seem minor in the grand scheme of things, but it can often do wonders to help those interested to gain a better understanding of the program's content and purpose at a glance. The Emerging Leaders program will continue to provide extended career development opportunities for graduates of our Supervisory Development, Departmental Financial Management, and Management Development programs. Please consider this program as part of your continued personal and professional development plans.

Course Description: Participants will learn how to successfully transition from team player to take charge leader, motivate employees, work through conflict and difficult behavior, and establish credibility and authority to organize constantly shifting projects, priorities, and deadlines.

After completing this course, participants will know how to:

- Establish positive work habits
- Minimize stress in the work environment
- Assess the quality of internal and external communications skills
- Understand the four levels of the discipline process
- Design and strengthen an associate development system
